Do you have to register, or just show up? I've never been to a theology pub -- can you explain a little more about it? The idea sounds fun and intriguing, though being pregnant, I'll have to pass on the ale. I may or may not be make it, but I'd love to come! I live in South Jersey but I have an aunt and uncle in DC who just might be persuaded to babysit.

It's a just show up thing and an open theological discussion. I don't drink at all so, you won't be alone in that!

Thanks! Is there anything I should be especially read-up on if I'm able to make it?

That assumes I already have thought about the topic. When I do I'll let you know

Yeah. I'm on the steering committee for the Religion and Disability Studies group of the AAR so I go every year. It's quite a nerdfest huh? I will be presiding at a session on religion and spirituality in Deaf communities...it's Saturday morning...come by and say hi!
For my thesis at CU Boulder I wrote a cultural history of Deaf churches in America...this session on the topic will be the first ever papers at the AAr given in American Sign Language and voiced into English by interpreters!!!

Sounds funky...I don't know how to sign, but I LOVE watching it and did participate in a little worship-signing to a lovely song once. Sometimes movements and facials expressions are more powerful than words...even for the hearing community, I think.

I am going to be in DC Friday and Saturday, but unfortunately, the aunt I am staying with has a yoga class in her home Sunday night and wouldn't be able to have my kids there, so it looks like I'll just have to be an emerging (rather than submerging) ship passing you guys in the night. Bummer! I was really looking forward to the pub...
